Cloth Diaper Madness
Ok so maybe I am just a little bit crazy. Maybe it was my 5 years working for housing that brought out the little environmentalist in me or maybe it was just the raging hormones making me kinda loony while I was pregnant, either way I'm still stuck with $600 worth of cloth diapers that will eventually save us money if I can just keep with it long enough. Did you know that the average baby produces 1 ton of dirty diapers a year? Times that by 2 babies for at least 2 years and thats 8000 lbs of poopy diapers that my family will not be contributing to the landfill. Somehow I don't think this bit of trivia has inspired the warm fuzzies in Hailee and Atticus. Maybe they're just upset because the diapers make their hips look fat.

wow! So cool - (okay so maybe there is something to that housing idea...) Way to be environmentally responsible and the diapers are cute too. Where did you get them?
There are actually hundreds of places on line to buy cloth diapers in all shapes types colors and sizes. Its almost overwhelming how many great new products they have out there. I got these particular covers (Wonder Raps) at www.maineclothdiapercompany.com. If you're really interested in trying cloth diapers I recommend going to www.diaperpin.com where you can learn about all the differnt kinds and read reviews etc.
Oh my goodness, you are SOOOO brave!!! Cloth diapers on TWO!? Do you have to wash them? Do you have a diaper service?! Man, you are better than I! I run the diaper outside into the landfill as fast as I can, plugging my nose the entire way!
Yes we do wash the diapers ourselves. I don't think Logan even has a diaper service. So far its not to bad. The diaper pail actually smells better since we changed to cloth because it gets emptied almost every day. Cloth diapers take up a lot more space. Im sure it will get a little less pleasant once we start feeding the babies solid foods thought. While babies are still nursing you can just throw all the diapers straight in the pail/washer. Once they're eating solids it gets a little messier.
Yikes! Well, I applaud you both! You're stronger than I am and you guys rock! Miss yer guts!!! :)
wow that is amazing I have had 2 in diapers for 18 months now and lets just say I don't think I could handle cloth ones. I did think about it when Ryan was first born, but after I found the good diapers that they could wet 2 or 3 times without a change there was no more thinking about the cloth ones, maybe I should have though I hear they help kids potty train faster!
hey! cute blog! we added you to ours.. its a brand new one not too exciting yet. but in 5 weeks it will be!
Hi, I love the diapers. Only one of our kids had disposables the whole time - ahh the good old days. Do you have to fold these or are they prefolded? I didn't mind the laundry part, it was the folding the diapers that I hated. But they are definitely cheaper. Oh, this is Aunt Cathy
The diapers are fitted so they have shape to them and elasticized gussetts around the legs. They dont require folding unless you want them to stack neatly.
I have seen any pictures of them, they are just adorable!
